This Statement Page is to communicate with the public, the status and a timeline of operations for our business.
Cody is happy to announce his return to practice & anticipates being operational for March.
Here's how things have progressed...
Cody Cummings, the founder of Vitalogy, Osteopathy & Wellness Centre (Vitalogy), relocated from Vancouver, BC to Ottawa, ON.
On December 1st, Vitalogy took possession of a brick & mortar space in the Hintonburg neighbourhood. We were pushing to do a quick facelift to the space and were anticipating to open our doors for mid-December.
In mid-December we were forced to close.
We received news from the Ontario Association of Osteopathic Manual Practitioners (OAO). This order was handed down from the Chief Medical Officer of Health's Office. The OAO had to notify it's members to cease practices (click this link to redirect to the OAO statement). Our industry was deemed non-essential because osteopathy is unregulated in Ontario (or anywhere in Canada).
Ontario is currently the only province in Canada where Osteopathic Manual Practitioners are restricted from practicing. The OAO continues to lobby for it's members to allow osteopaths to work at this time.
We still do not have word on when osteopathic practices may resume in Ontario.
-January to March 2021-
Health professions that do have regulatory colleges are allowed to continue to work while in lockdown; such as chiropractors, physiotherapists, and Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs).
Currently, Cody holds memberships with the OAO & the College of Massage Therapy of British Columbia (CMTBC). He is in the process of gaining membership with the College of Massage Therapy of Ontario (CMTO). While in the process of gaining membership in Ontario, Cody cannot provide services or market himself as a Massage Therapist. Cody anticipates being able to offer RMT services at Vitalogy by March 2021.
